Orchard Game by Haba
The Orchard game by Haba is our favorite first game for young children. The game is simple enough for a three-year-old, but still exciting for an eight-year-old. And it’s a cooperative game, so the children play together, not against each other.
The game comes with a board featuring 4 fruit trees, 4 types of wooden pretend fruit, and wicker baskets for filling. Players roll the dice and pick the fruit that corresponds to the color on the dice. It is added to that player’s basket. If the dice lands on the raven, the raven gets a “bite” and a piece is added to the raven’s puzzle in the middle of the board. Players must pick all the fruit before the raven gets it all!
